AboutVera List (1908-2002) joined the New School board of trustees in 1956 and remained an active and dynamic member of the board for more than 40 years. She was a champion, donor, and founder of the program of art exhibitions and public programs known as the New School Art Center in the 1960s, and the first chair of the New School University Art Collection, helping to shape its founding mission and to build the collection. Vera List also financed the renovation of the New School's atrium and courtyard at 66 West 12th Street, endowed numerous scholarships, and, in 1992, endowed the Vera List Center for Art and Politics.
