Susan A. Forbes ASID, IDEC, IIDA, originally from California, holds a B.A. in Enviroment Design from the University of California at Berkeley, and graduated with honors from Parsons School of Design (later, she returned to teach at the school). Susan has served as vice-president on the Executive Committee of Interior Designers for Legislation in New York (IDLNY), and on the Board of Directors of the Designers Lighting Forum (DLF) and The Decorators Club. She was a professional member of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID), the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES), International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD), and the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (SNAME).

Susan was appointed to the Mayor's Advisory Committee for Design in the City of New York during the Koch administration.

As of 2014, she was a tenured faculty member at SUNY/Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) and has served as Chairperson of the Interior Design Department.
