Description

In the first of two segments, Doug Vann discusses the beginning of his career and his experiences photographing artists and celebrities. He presents a slideshow of his photographs, explaining how this direction locked him into a certain genre that he won't be able to exit any time soon. At one point in the recording, the tape recorder is very close to the slide projector, making the speaker barely audible. Vann discusses future plans, as well as strategies for photographing celebrities. Workshop participants ask questions throughout. In the second segment, Vann offers career advice and discusses the Village Voice, which is up for sale, then speaks on working conditions in the field.
