(speaker)Benedict J. Fernandez
June 3 – 7 1985
In the first of two segments, Claudio Edinger shows slides of his work and describes his experience photographing Hasidic Jews in Brooklyn and prisoners in Brazil. He also discusses his photography career prior to turning to photojournalism. Workshop participants ask questions throughout. In the second segment, Edinger discusses the sacrifices and limits of photojournalism. Responding to another question, he speaks about a book on El Salvador featuring several photographers (this may be a reference to the book that Susan Meiselas initiated and mentions in her 1983 presentation.) Edinger turns to a general discussion of photo books. Workshop participants continue to ask questions throughout.
