Description

Everything that surrounds us is already enveloped with light and sound. The musicality of the rustling cities helped design the lighting conditions of urban spaces and acoustical conditions in our environment allowed for new lighting design opportunities. Merging auditory perceptions of our surroundings with light design can result in intense emotional awareness of our experience within a space. In this thesis, I will investigate the auditory and visual experience of light and sound synergy with the aim of investigating how both senses influence each other and our perceptual experience of space. Relationships between sonic and optic perceptions are endless, especially with regards to their role in enhancing spatial experiences, which can be used to forayinto fresh areas of lighting design.
