Faced with 21st century issues of urban density, land scarcity and sustainability, Architecture faces a new problem of rebuilding of what already exists. Adaptability as a principle should be made one of the basic conditions of design. Architecture should change, evolve, and be repurposed through periods of time, minimizing the current building standard within major cities of build, demolish, build. With the continuous changing and development of both building and lighting technologies, this thesis will inquire about architecture and the role of lighting to adapt and respond to existing building and lighting conditions.
