My thesis mainly provides solutions to the problem that many visually impaired people cannot easily and independently go to public spaces. My solutions includes: architecture lighting design, space refinement, signage system design, and guidelines refinement. In the current situation, none of the existing guidelines is considered enough for visually impaired people to navigate themselves in complicated public spaces. Because most of the guidelines ignore the fact that many visually impaired people can see, these guidelines lack consideration of the visual information which can help visually impaired people understand. My thesis aims to fill up this empty field and help visually impaired people independently go to public spaces.
