Description

The objective of this study is to examine the value of shadows with our senses, our intellect and our emotions.

Shadow Mystique examines the symbolic power and emotional associations of the subject matter. Shadow Factors is a study of the characteristics of shadows themselves. Shadow Innovations In the History of Painting describes changes and effects in the visual language of this medium. Shadows, Continuous Lighting and Photographic Seeing examines the creative thought process and the physical equipment of continuous light sources photographers use to dramatize reality. Shadows Applied is my own photographic and lighting investigation of the principles I have studied.

The intended usefulness of this exercise is to cultivate our minds, acquire knowledge, develop imagination, increase visual awareness and develop the intuition that will more enable is to respond to the composition of a scene more effectively and creatively.
