The rapid competitive advancements in digital technology have created a society that is more aggressive and less aware of its surroundings. We are faced with the challenge of creating meaningful, or “authentic” experiences within a landscape of shifting priorities, technologies and value systems. These advancements have allowed us the ability to create a succession of images, one after the next, with ease of dissemination. This only perpetuates the futile intent with which we may create these images. The frequency at which images can be captured, processed, and stored is astonishing, and at times overwhelmingly swift. There are limitless possibilities to the medium. Picture making is often taken for granted now due to the automatic function included in the photographic device, from the astronomical storage capacity, to in-camera editing, and more recently the mobile upload.
