The Third Encounter is an interactive dance performance project based on the designer – Jade’s personal experiences after she came to New York City.
New York City is a multicultural place, although it is comprehensive for cultural integration, it is hard to identify one’s own culture in here. Jade finds her way – dance to relieve herself from multicultural difference, and she also finds the rules of how to use technology to enhance the interaction between the installation and dance performance, then to create her design language to design the interactive space to let the audience experience how body movements can affect the whole space.
The Third Encounter is the third version of the series of interactive dance performance projects; it supports by the motion tracking techniques which using Kinectron Library to get the joints moving data detected by the Kinect2. The data will send to the server which connects with P5 program to send a serial signal to the Arduino board which connect with module relay control the fan to blows up and down the Cheffon fabrics fly in certain angle and speed.
This project does not only have professional performance but also welcome the audience to experience the interactive space personally.
