Description

Enebla is a critical design project analyzing the overwhelming complexes immigrants and first generation Ethiopian-Americans experience when preserving their culture. Using food as a vehicle, Enebla uses meal kit design elements to metaphorically highlight the practice of picking and choosing what cultural elements to hold on to, while partaking in the process of assimilation for the sake of surviving in the United States. This thesis aims to highlight the importance of finding balance in cultural preservation and assimilation.
