The Art of Motion is a series of data paintings extracted from biometric running statistics created to push the ways in which human-in-motion data can be displayed and to challenge the use of data visualization. Each piece is an artistic compilation of data collected over the course of a run. This data includes duration, distance, overall mile average, heart rate average and start time, along with the runner’s name and location. With materials like paint, food dye, milk, soap, kitchen tools and a hair dryer, data artist, Marielle Verni, uses simple algorithms to transform numerical running values into lively pieces of art.
