Description

Ancient history is a part of Chinese culture, which is the spiritual backbone of China. By learning about the country’s past, westerners can appreciate Chinese culture and understand people more deeply. History functions as a “rearview mirror”, which shows what is behind so that people can better face the challenges of the future. In Chinese antiquity, the most representative contribution is The Thirty-six Stratagems, a Chinese essay used to illustrate a series of stratagems for politics, war, and civil interaction. This project focuses on how young adults in the West can receive multicultural historical knowledge through the use of a board game. The game- The War Of The Three Kingdoms introduces players to the thirty-six stratagems, some principal historical figures, and ancient geographical distribution. In order to evaluate the effectiveness of my game, I explored the questionnaire method and game testing in the iterative process and listed the detailed process in my thesis.
