Description

Designer's statement: Harmony is a physical installation providing a scaffolding for an individual to enter a virtual space for chakra-based meditation. Adapting Tantric philosophies into an immersive virtual reality experience, the participant chooses which energy center to meditate on and is guided to activate that center. The device offers a gong bath and subtle visual feedback of the individual’s heart rate, which corresponds with the chakra color. This piece is an expression of faith in the future of technology. With growing fears of mechanization contributing to a new kind of solitude and disconnect with ourselves, this is a reaction to the pessimism; a rediscovery of our chakra energy centers, bringing mind, body and spirit into harmony.
