“Roosevelt Land” is a platform for developing an informative and interactive mobile content based on local features of Roosevelt Island. My impetus for developing “Roosevelt Land” is to combine my interest in this island and my knowledge of interactive technologies. Based on Roosevelt Island’s history, some of the media describe this island as a horrible and weird place. My thesis work aims to improve people’s negative opinions of Roosevelt Island, their little awareness of the island, and the inconvenience of existing online tools on Roosevelt Island.

As a solution, I created an interactive virtual tour content for a currently popular mobile device (iPad), content that would make people interested in Roosevelt Island. Interesting interactive content can inform the public and improve Roosevelt Island’s image. Also, my thesis work will offer convenience to people in Roosevelt Island. Not only visitors, but also residents will benefit from my project. Based on my purpose, main target will be New Yorkers who want to know about Roosevelt Island.
