“My Grandmother” is a short animation based on a personal story during World War II. It reflects the crisis of personal and national identity of an immigrant woman, who lived in two countries that had once been in a colonial relationship and were set apart after the war.
This piece provides the descendents of Japanese immigrants an overview of the history of post-war Taiwan. It intends to reframe the public discussion of national identity and provides young Taiwanese the opportunity to rethink their national and political stances. It took me another few months working on story boarding 08 and scripting.
