Mannes College of Music alumna Frederica von Stade is seated, and in costume for her role as Nicklausse in Jacques Offenbach's "Les Contes d'Hoffmann." "Les Contes d'Hoffmann" ran for nine shows at the Metropolitan Opera House the fall of 1970.
