Illustration of a girls' play ensemble that was featured in what is presumably a Simplicity sewing pattern catalogue in a section entitled "Playclothes That Can Take It". According to the catalogue description, this illustration depicts a "simple-to-make" shirt with an inverted pleat and tiny tab that extends down from the back yoke. The shirt is paired with shorts featuring front patch pockets.
An image of the pattern envelope for the shorts can be found here: http://vintagepatterns.wikia.com/wiki/Simplicity_1128
