Description
Black women's suit with a knee-length dress and long-sleeved jacket featuring a stand-up collar and deep pink paillette embroidered lips on two waist pockets and underneath the collar. Sketch depicts the full ensemble (in color), worn with what appears to be a cartwheel hat tied under the neck, as well as the dress worn without the jacket (in black graphite only), revealing a belted waist and darts extending down from the neckline. This suit is similar to the one featured in the October 1937 issue of L'Officiel and serves as a prime example of Schiaparelli's connection to surrealism.
