Description

Floor-length wrap coat (probably for entertaining at home) featuring a shawl collar, patch pocket, elbow-length cuffed sleeves, and a fringed sash tied at the waist. The illustration includes a swatch of black and gold brocade fabric, as well as alternate views of the coat. It is possible that the collar and sleeve cuffs were made from red satin, which is also mentioned in the inscription.
