The annual William Phillips lecture at The New School for Social Research pays homage to the longtime editor of The Partisan Review. The 2009 lecture was by Romanian author and novelist Norman Manea. Manea was introduced by New School alumna Edith Kurzweil, William Phillips' widow, who was in turn introduced by New School for Social Research Dean Michael Schober. In Kurzweil's introduction, she reads an excerpt from Phillips' memoir A Partisan View. The introductions, lecture, and audience questions are included in the audio recording.
