The annual William Phillips lecture at The New School for Social Research pays homage to the longtime editor of The Partisan Review. The 2008 was by Israeli poet and author Michal Govrin, who contributed writings to The Partisan Review. Govrin was introduced by New School alumna Edith Kurzweil, William Phillips; widow, who also offered a short history of The Partisan Review and discussed the relationship between the two founding editors, William Phillips and Philip Rahv. The title of Michal Govrins lecture was Israel at Sixty. The introductions and lecture are included in the audio recording.
