A native Texan, Jack Hargis was born July 25, 1924, attended Parsons School of Design and later worked as a fashion designer for Jacques Fath in Paris. He was a faculty member of the Parsons fashion design department beginning in 1945 and visited Parsons as a fashion critic during the 1950s. He is also known as a collector of antique furnishings, and established with fellow Parsons alumnus and fashion designer David Brush the Bidwell House Museum in the Berkshires. He died on June 12, 1986 in Massachusetts.
