Description

Mr. Levinson holds a shovel and Mrs. Lewis holds a plaque bearing the inscription, "Alvin Johnson Oak," while Alvin Johnson stands between them in the New School Courtyard during construction in the late 1950s. The courtyard connects 66 West 12th Street (Alvin Johnson/J. M. Kaplan Hall) and 65 West 11th Street (Eugene Lang College). In 1997, it was renamed the Vera List Courtyard.
