Traina-Norell bare-shouldered jersey gown that ties around the neck and is worn with opera-length plum-colored jersey gloves. The photograph was sent with a press release issued by the advertising agency N. W. Ayer & Son, Inc., which can be found with the accompanying photo in Box OSx-2, Folder 1, along with editorials featuring this same dress. The press release indicates that the dress is designed as a "background" for jewels, which is why it is shown with a diamond brooch, tiara, earrings, and a golden snake necklace, all by Van Cleef & Arpels.
